Introduction
QueerCineMad (formerly known as LesGaiCineMad) is the largest LGBTIAQ+ international film festival in the Spanish-speaking world and one of the oldest in Europe. Held annually in Madrid since 1996, this emblematic event is organized by Fundación Triángulo, an organization dedicated to advocating for LGBT rights both in Spain and internationally. The festival's mission is to amplify the voices and stories of the queer community through film, fostering visibility and dialogue.
Each year, LesGaiCineMad features a wide variety of films, including feature-length films, short films, and documentaries, all focusing on different aspects of queer life. These works come from both national and international filmmakers, offering diverse perspectives on LGBTIAQ+ issues. In addition to its Official Selection, the festival includes categories such as "Cine Disidente" for experimental films and "Panorama," which highlights significant international releases.
The festival is not just a showcase for cinema but also a platform for recognizing emerging and established talent. Over its more than 28 editions, it has awarded numerous prizes, with both audience and jury awards celebrating the best films, directors, and documentaries across multiple categories
